AUGUST 2016 MARKS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF
THE CEASE FIRE AND DECLARATION OF THE END OF
THE INDONESIAN CONFRONTATION WITH MALAYSIA
Selamat tengahari Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 50th Anniversary Tour to Kuching Sarawak took place between the 24th August and 1st September 2016. The visit was a great success and was well reported in the Sarawak media.

The main feature was the commemoration ceremony for the unveiling and dedication of the Memorial tablet, made from Sarawak black granite by a Kuching stonemason, Mr Simon Sim, who made the Australian SAS Memorial tablet next to which our’s has been mounted. See photo of the memorial tablet below.
The memorial tablet was unveiled by Lieutenant Colonel Jim Ryan, an Australian Instructor of Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College.
Several VIPs attended including LTCOL Stephen Fomiatti the Assistant Defence Adviser from the Australian High Commission in KL, Sarawak government dignatories, CO of the Malaysian Ranger Battalion Kuching, MAJGEN Stephen Mundaw GOC Malaysian Infantry Divisions and representatives from the Malaysian Rangers Association.
